Curriculum and Development Planning

Grace Nursery Limited follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2012 curriculum, which is based around the seven areas of learning and development. For children under 2 years old, we concentrate on the three prime areas that hone the knowledge and skills required to form the foundations of formal learning. These are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development

Then, we introduce them to the four specific areas of learning and development to provide opportunities for extending knowledge:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We make regular observations of children as they play, learn, and socialise to highlight their current interests and learning or development aims. These observations help us track their progress and identify specific needs. Development plans are displayed inside and outside of the playrooms to keep parents informed and provide talking points or home learning ideas.

EEE-Free Funded Childcare Places

  • 2-year EEE-funded 15-hour places available for children (depending on eligibility)
  • 3 to 4-year EEE-funded 15-hour universal places available for all children (available on the term after they turn 3 years old)
  • 30-hour free childcare places available for working parents (depending on eligibility available the term after they turn 3 years old)

Facilities

We have facilities available to meet the individual needs of all the children in our care. Every factor has been taken into consideration to ensure that all facilities are adaptable to meet the needs of children and children with disabilities. The kids will transition from each room as they age and become developmentally appropriate with the support from their key person.

Baby Room (0 to 2 Years Old)

This small, homely room holds a maximum of 6 children at a time. Children have access to a wide range of activities and equipment to meet their developmental needs, following the three prime areas of learning set out in the EYFS curriculum. Our staff provides stimulating activities and plans development progress accordingly for the children within their key group.

Toddler Room (2 Years Old)

The toddler room is large and separated into different activity areas, holding a maximum of 12 children at a time. Children have access to a wide range of activities and equipment to meet their developmental needs, following the three prime areas of learning set out in the EYFS whilst also being introduced to the four specific areas according to their abilities.

The room will run on a free-play basis where children have the independence to choose their activities. Staff will provide small adult-led activities tailored to each child's individual needs and plan progressive steps for each child within their key group, using the child’s interests as the starting point.

Preschool Room (3 to 5 Years Old)

This is a large room divided into different activity areas, holding a maximum of 30 children at a time. Children follow a structured routine that allows learning to take place in a calm and stimulating environment with free play times within the routine. Staff will provide adult- and child-led activities to meet the kid’s needs and plan progressive steps for each child within their key group.

Outdoor Learning

The outdoor area provides a varied, safe, and holistic outdoor learning environment. We have a large, soft floor play area where children have space to run around, ride bikes, and play a variety of sports and activities that help develop gross motor skills and promote healthy living.

We also have a lovely garden area where children can grow their fruits and vegetables, build dens, and have access to an outdoor story area and sensory garden.

Grace Nursery Limited understands the importance of outdoor play to let the kids experience the natural environment for themselves and have the freedom to explore and take risks safely, allowing them to become competent learners who can assess and manage risks safely and independently.
